JUDGEMENTAL

“I want you to kill me, I don’t want to live just waiting for my death.” a young beautiful girl cries in front of her doctor. The girl has been diagnosed with a terminal disease; the doctor expects her to live not more than a few months. The old calm doctor says to her, “Euthanasia is illegal, but even if it would have been legal, I would never have suggested to you that. I know it is a bit of a cliché, but life is not measured by quantity but the quality of it.” The girl says “I don’t know, what quality of life is?”

The doctor replies “I can help you with that. What is the most adventurous thing you have done?” The girl thinks for a few seconds and replies “I have once gone trekking on a mountain outside the town.” The doctor hiding his chuckles asks again, “what are the things you are most proud of.” The girl proudly replies, “I am a good student, I have always got good grades in almost every exam.” “That’s good, but you have a boyfriend or traveled abroad or anything like that?” asks the doctor.

“No, actually, I had one, but my relatives called me shameless, so I distanced myself from the relationship.” claims the girl. The doctor asks “Now, what your relatives think of you.” The girl says “now they call me conservative, they say that I would never find the right man to marry. Now they will be right.” Saying this girl’s eye is filled with tears. Doctor trying to calm her says, “Kid, I have seen thousands of people die in this hospital, and they have not lived their life for a day, just like you, they spent it on pleasing others, who will still be judgmental of them. You can give your life to your relatives; they will still judge you for not giving it in the right fashion. If you could take my word, you have lots of days to take moments out of them. Go live your life girl.”

The girl took his advice, she did die, but she leaves behind lots of things to remember her by.
