WORLD WATER DAY

Not too far in a future, in the Central London, a person is crawling slowly in the sand. Another person looking everything through the television turns to his wife and said, “poor fellow is dying, but he can’t even afford a sip of water.” He further adds, “look at the irony, he is dying of thirst in the centre of Thames, which had quenched thirst for whole London till the time it got dried. People were too happy around it, but in a matter of few years the river had dried and whole nation has turned into a desert.”

The lady asks “Can’t we do something about him, we can’t let him die.” The man replies, “Oh dear! You are so naïve, I understand that you feel sad for him, but we our self don’t have water for more than few years.” He adds, “I don’t know how will our next generation survive, we have just two tankers full of drinking water, despite being the richest man on earth, I have to be thrifty with water usage. I still remember how we used to waste it, and not took water conservation seriously.”

The couple gets scared with the sound of shooting. They come to their senses just to notice that a group of rebels are approaching towards them. Rebels are intruding their property by all means necessary and killing everyone who would come in their way. Fire started from the security guards as well, in the cross fire both the tanks got damaged and all the water just washed away on the ground. The fight swell, guns are soon replaced with bomb, and everyone died. Even if someone had lived, he would have died of thirst.

This is a work of fiction, but it will soon be turned into truth if we don’t conserve water now. Happy World Water Day, save water otherwise no one can save us.
